African Affairs: Journal of the RAS
The editors of African Affairs propose organising a stream at ASAUK24 which will invite
thematic panels focused on the politics and international relations of Africa, broadly-
conceived. African Affairs is the top-ranked journal in African Studies and has a reputation
for working closely with scholars at all career stages to develop and publish work of the
highest quality, both empirically and theoretically. An inter-disciplinary journal, African
Affairs welcomes panel submissions which seek to shape debate on contemporary Africa
from different theoretical, methodological, and empirical perspectives and particularly
contributions from Africa-based and early-career scholars. While the journal does not
publish Special Issues, the editors envisage some papers from this stream being submitted
to – and, reviews permitting, published – in African Affairs in due course, and the editors
welcome the opportunity to engage with scholars interested in publishing with the journal.
Please send any informal enquiries to j.fisher.africanaffairs@gmail.com before the deadline
of 31 January, 2024. All proposals received will be reviewed by the journal’s editorial team.
