Revisiting Biafra
This stream is interested in facilitating discussions of current research on the Nigeria-Biafra war which move across disciplinary boundaries. It particularly encourages submissions from researchers and arts practitioners whose works explore lesser studied aspects of the war and its legacies.
This stream welcomes submissions from researchers who reflect on their approach to engaging with the Nigeria-Biafra war, for example, in relation to ethical issues or challenges encountered. It invites introspective discussions in which researchers and practitioners focus on the evolution of their work vis-à-vis the changing political landscape in Nigeria, such as the renewed agitations amongst separatist groups for an independent Biafra. This stream seeks to host a roundtable discussion in which contributors are invited to share experiences of navigating research on the war where there is a personal connection, discussing topics such as objective/subjective scholarship, positionality and responsibility.
